The 1.50 level on Eur.Usd is going to be an interesting level to watch. I have exited my Eur.Usd long position for a profit of +285 pips. I am now cautious of buying this pair until I see what happens around the 1.50 level.

A Weak Pound

The 4 hour trend on Gbp.Usd has been down for the past few weeks so I've been hunting for selling oppertunities when our ducks line up. We got a very nice selling oppertunity a few days ago which has worked out really well. An 80 pip risk for a 160 pip reward.

EUR.JPY Potential Sell

The 4 hour trend on Eur.Jpy is still down. I will be looking for selling set ups on this pair when my ducks line up. Possible stop loss location could be above the 4 hour highs and targets could be towards the 4 hour low and even lower.

UPDATE: 129.55 was as low as Eur.Jpy went before it rallied up. My short positions where stopped out for breakeven :-(

End Of Another Month

Buying the Aussie Dollar against the US Dollar has certainly been profitable in September (and for the last 7 months .... ) I normally close out some of my positions at the end of the month and I'le gladly take +410 pips of profit from the above Aussie Dollar trade.

I'm short Eur.Jpy from earlier this morning, it was a pending order that was trigger while I was still in bed :-0 I have moved my stop loss to breakeven on this trade and I'm going to give it the oppertunity to move further south (hopefully). I dont normally move my stop loss to break even but on this ocassion I'm willing to try it. Im currently up +65 pips and its a sunny Friday afternoon in Dublin so Im off to have some fun!

UPDATE: OK I'm back from cutting my grass and I'm glad to see the Eur.Jpy trade is now up +140 pips. Time to take the profits, I'm now flat in the market, have a good weedend, Andy.

GBP.USD Direction still down

An ugly trading day today with a fair bit of volatile movement on some currency pairs. The GBP.USD currency pair has been trending lower recently so Im only really interested in selling in the direction of the trend on this pair when my 3 ducks line up. We did get a selling oppertunity earlier on today in the direction of the trend after the market settled back down. A take profit of 100 pips just before the support has me flat in the market once again.

Taking Advantage Of A Weak US Dollar

All our ducks lined up for a sell on USD.CAD. I sold this pair yesterday (pending order) with a 50 pip stop loss and a 100 pip target, my 100 pip target has just been met. The USD.CAD pair has been one of the better pairs to trade this week. I have been on the sideline this week with most of the other currency pairs as good trade set ups have been few and far between. The 3 Duck's Trading System has helped keep me out of harms way in the choppy currency pairs, so that means I'm not giving the market back my profits :-)

¥en Pairs Are Following the 240min Trend

Mixed signals on most currency pairs with prices not confirming the 240min trend. Eur.Gbp is back below the 60min sma again which does confirm the trend on the 240min chart, so I may be looking for selling opportunities in this pair next week. Price on the Yen pairs are following the 240min trend so all your ducks are lined up for buying opportunities when they present them self.

Eur.Gbp will it go lower?

All our ducks are lined up for a sell on Eur.Gbp so I'm short at 0.8498, my stop-loss is at 0.8598 and my target is open for now. The Eur.Gbp pair has been going sideways for the last few weeks so it was not a pair that us trend followers where looking to trade. However over the last few days it has been breaking the daily lows and staying lower. The 240min chart looks good also with lower lows and lower highs in place.

6.8.09 Update; I couldn't hold on to this position any longer, current price has crossed above the 60min sma after been up +44 pips from earlier on. So Im out for a -55 pip loss :-) Suppose its safter to be out with a -55 pip loss than risking the full stop-loss of 100 pips.

Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi

The Aud.Usd has been one of the trendiest pairs to trade over the last few weeks, not forgetting the Usd.Cad also. These are some of the pairs you should be looking at trading using The 3 Duck's Trading System at this time. A 30 pip risk for a 90 pip reward, I did jump in on this trade before the price had crossed back above the 1hr sma, very bold! But with such a good trend I couldn't wait!

Aud.Usd will it break the multi month high?

I bought Aud.Usd earlier on today based on a 3 ducks set up, it was actually a pending order that got filled last night. I took a 60 pip profit on it, my stop-loss was 30 pips so a decent return. I would have liked to let this trade run a bit longer because the Aud.Usd pair have been trending nicely for the past few weeks. However there is resistance at 0.8257 and the Aussie dollar has not been higher than this level in the past 9 months. Will it break higher than this level? I would like if it did because the trend will continue, but for the meantime I out of my long position.

I don't normally like Monday mornings but im feeling good today. last night during the Asian session I scanned through all my charts as normal to look for potential set ups using the 3 Ducks Trading System. All our ducks where lined up for a buy on Gbp.Jpy (I dont mind trading Yen pairs outside of the European session). I entered a long Gbp.Jpy position with stop-loss and profit target in place and headed off to bed, my work was done!

Its a choppy market out there today and Im always keen to take profits quicker than I would in a nice trendie market. All your Ducks where lined up for a buy on Eur.Usd today so it was just a matter of picking a good entry point. Based on the 60 min chart I thought we migh get some buying action above 1.4104 with a profit target above yesterdays high.

$250 billion to make the pain go away

Treasury are going to lash $250 billion into financial institutions. 9 of America's largest banks have already agreed to take the money (so would I) and in return will give preferred shares to taxpayers.

Will the $250, 000,000,000 (ouch that is a lot of zeros) be enough?
Should treasury have bailed these financial institutions out?

Aussie Dollar - Worst is over or is there still more PAIN?

After a drop of 40% in the last 13 weeks against the US Dollar has the Aussie Dollar finally caught its breath back? I for one hope it has because it can be a great currency to buy when things are going well for it (CANT THEY ALL!).

If we have a look at the Aud.Usd 4hr chart above we can see that prices are getting close to the 60 period sma which is step one of our 3 Duck's Trading System set-up. If prices do cross above the sma on the 4hr chart in the coming days I will be looking for buying oppertunities while following all the steps in the 3 Duck's System.

Aud.Usd - Love to buy it, hate to sell it!

The Aussie dollar versus the US dollar is one of my favourite pairs to trade using The 3 Duck's Trading System. I really only like buying this pair because of the positive rollover gained. However in the last few weeks the Aussie dollar has not been making too much progress to the northside and has started to sell off a bit. From looking at the 4hr chart we can see that prices have crossed below the sma. What I will be interested in watching is, will support at 0.9275 hold or will a break of 0.9275 open the gates up to lower levels?

If the support level does hold and prices cross back above the 4hr sma, I will be an Aussie dollar buyer again!

Eur.Usd - Prefer to be selling

Since the 24th of April '08 the Eur.Usd has been moving lower while staying below its sma on the 4hr chart. By following the "rules" of The 3 Duck's Trading System we should only be looking for selling (short) oppertunities on this pair.

As always if price gets above the sma on the 4hr chart we will change our mind as quick as a chameleon changes its colours!

Eur.Chf - I told you it wasn't an ugly ducking!

Hello All,

In the previous post I told you to look at buying this pair if & when your ducks lined up.

From our 4 hr chart we see prices have been above its sma for the last number of weeks (1st duck).

On our 1 hr chart we can see prices moved back above its sma today (2nd duck).

And on our 5 min chart we can see prices moving above its sma and the high (3rd Duck).

All in all a straigh forward trade using The 3 Duck's Trading System that never really got into trouble. With the FOMC statement out in a few hours I think now would be a good time to close this position.

Eur.Chf - not an ugly duckling!

Just though I would share my observations with all you Duck hunters.
The Eur.Chf pair has been very "trendie" over the last few weeks & obeying the 3 Duck's Trading System rules. The current price 1.6165 is above the sma on the 4 hour chart and is just below the sma on the 60 min chart. Maybe look to buy this pair if & when your ducks are lined up again for a buy. As I say, it has been obeying the system over the past few weeks and winners would have well outweighed any losers.

US Dollar under pressure!

Oil prices hit a record above USD109 per barrel as dollar weakness triggered buying, extending a rally which has seen the price of crude surge around 15pc in just one month. New York's WTI crude for April delivery was up 1.07 usd at 108.97 usd per barrel, having hit a record of 109.20 usd. In London, Brent crude for April delivery was up 1.01 at 105.17 usd per barrel, having hit a record of 105.40 usd earlier. A weaker dollar, which again hit a fresh record low against the euro and is vulnerable to further weakness, helped the rally. Commodities priced in the dollar have become relatively cheaper for those trading in stronger currencies, which has induced buying.
Prices were already well underpinned, as investors continued to favour the commodity sector, which is offering them better returns than ailing equity markets.
